As you can imagine, we are huge fans of photos. On our bookshelves... in boxes or drawers to re-discover every couple of years... in albums and books to be flicked through on rainy days. They are portals to times with the precious people, places and animals in our lives.
One of the great pleasures of being a photographer is creating beautiful photos for and with people, that celebrate all the things that are so special to them and make memories in the process. Portrait sessions are usually around an hour long and can be at an outdoor location, in our garden space or in the studio. The most important thing is having fun and making some photos together that reflect the people in them! On this page you can find pricing information and answers to some FAQs. You can book a sitting or one of our gift certificates in our shop or by contacting us to arrange a session. |
Pricing
When it comes to pricing, you need a clear idea of costs and also the ability to choose the products you want. With that in mind (and after some advice from our wonderful customers!), we've made our portrait pricing straight-forward and simple.

Package Options:
After your session, you'll have the opportunity to view your photos and choose from one of our package options. Our packages, named after some beautiful fells (love to walk... check out the blogs if you are interested!), give you the benefit of selecting digital files as well as choosing 'a la carte' print products from our shop to treasure for years to come.
FAQs
what happens?
If you’d like an outdoor session, we’ll walk and talk with the camera. If you would like a studio session, we’ll do the same but with less walking - mostly it’s about having a good time and we’ll get some great shots! I have a relaxed approach - I want the session to be part of the fun, not just a means to an end. For family sessions, this means that I'm very happy to work alongside busy, chatty kids who like to move around or quieter, shy kids who need a little more time to settle in.
After your session, we'll book a viewing where you can see your gallery and select your package - this can either be over a coffee or on Zoom or I can send you a gallery slideshow of your images to view at home.

WHAT SHOULD WE BRING?
The most import thing is yourselves! If there are special things you’d like to include then feel free to bring them along. Whether it’s an outdoor shoot including your dog, or a bottle of champagne - let us know and we can include it.
What's included and what are the prices?
Our portrait session fee is £40 and is paid in advance. Once you've had your session, we'll organise a viewing a couple of weeks later. Viewings can be in person, online or via an online gallery. At this point you can choose from one of our three packages - listed on this page - which all include a number of digital copies of your photos and a print credit voucher to spend in our portraiture shop. Rather than us choosing your print products for your package, you can choose from a beautiful range of prints, albums and wall art options.
What to wear?
It is completely up to you but my advice is usually along these lines:
- Most important: What you feel comfortable in and feel like yourself in. It’ll make you happy and at ease, and that makes for happy photos that look like you.
- Added bonus: if you can coordinate vaguely then that’s great but not essential at all. It’s more important that you look like you.
- Less important but not bad ideas: it’s potentially worth avoiding massive logos or slogans and it’s worth having shoes and clothes that you can relatively easily walk and sit in. You can always bring a layer or two, or add a scarf etc, if you want a bit of variety but best not to have too much to carry. As it’s Cumbria - even in summer - a coat is often a good idea even if it stays in the car.
