The colours are reminding me of two shoots over that last years with this gorgeous family - one after their little boy was born, then last year with their little girl too! What a joy it is to celebrate milestones with people.
Autumn is such a beautiful season, especially in the Lakes. I'd wholeheartedly recommend it for an outdoor shoot, there's often a crispness in the air and days that gives a little buzz to photos and of course, the colours of the changing trees and landscape make fantastic surroundings. Whether it's down Ullswater or through parkland, it's a great time for a shoot. Get in touch if you want to make the most of the season! If you want to keep up-to-date with goings on here at de la Mare Creative, my autumn newsletter will be out soon with lots of pretty things from across the season. Earlier this year I had the very very big pleasure of photographing these wonderful people and dear friends for a Ruby Wedding shoot. We dodged the rain, wandered the shoreline and then had a cup of tea, celebrating this beautiful family. Aren't friends, family and life itself beautiful - www.delamare-creative.co.uk/portraits x
Earlier in the year you might've seen me do a prize draw in my usual waffley manner (sign up for emails about the next one!). This lovely family won the portrait sitting and used it to celebrate their newest family member. There were lots of giggles, singing and silliness (and that was just the adults!!)
For your own record of giggles, silliness and family, you can book your sitting here and get in touch to chat. Last May, I had the pleasure of meeting this lovely lady when she took part in the Kaleidoscope Devoted Film. She is an artist and I filmed her creating a pastel piece based on the idea of celebration and 'party threads'. After meeting, we organised to get together along with her husband in Astley Park in Chorley to shoot some maternity photos and then again when their gorgeous little boy was born. I'm so passionate about the power of photos, and their memories, being in peoples hands and homes that I was thrilled when I was able to create an album for them. Working together, we designed one of Graphistudio's beautiful 'Baby Book' album and box sets to house their photos so they can go back and enjoy these precious moments again and again! I feel I say it a lot, but it really is always a pleasure to share and celebrate these life events with people. We have a 20% discount offer running for our sittings booked in January and February, use the code 'WINTEROFFER20' when checking out one of our Gift Certificates for a Sitting or get in touch to book a sitting!
What a joy it is to photograph people! This is what it's all about... this wonderful family weren't able to be together in person for Lucy and Rubens' wedding but we were able to capture these photos of pure joy and togetherness over Christmas. I've worked with the lovely Mother-of-the-Bride before (as well as both being Guerns) and it was such a pleasure to celebrate their new international family with these photos down at Pooley Bridge with Ullswater behind us. The clouds parted for a very brief window where we walked rain-free for these photos, before it carried on with a vengeance for the rest of the day! The last years have been tough with many missed moments, however silver linings like these are beautiful to see. Get in touch to book a sitting - they are such a bundle of joy and a great way to celebrate your family!
On a beautifully chilly day in January, Ben and Ailsa got married! We had a lovely wedding wander around the balmy Winter Gardens in Duthrie Park, Aberdeen. Lots of joy and beauty in these photos! Congratulations!
Just before Christmas we had the pleasure of spending a wintery day with these lovely people down in the South Lakes at St. Thomas' Church in Kendal. The day was crisp and the atmosphere was joyful with lots of smiles and laughter! Congratulations to the lovely Mr and Mrs Theobald!
It's been a busy two or three months leading to a very delayed 'Best of 2017'. I almost considered leaving it until 2018 but there were so many lovely moments in the last year that I thought it was worth popping them up even if they are a little late. Thank you to all those who have appeared through the lens of the de la Mare camera this year! Weddings...Starting with a stunning Couple's shoot for Simon and Bethany in January, following their London wedding, this year's weddings have been a joy! There's a couple in here too of Tom and Hannah's stunning Graphistudio album that arrived this year. Congratulations one and all. Floral and Fauna...It's hard categorising photos - a few in here could fit into the lovely people section, just they aren't people! Getting out and about or shooting pets in the studio were some of the highlights of 2017, with another successful Pet Week in Angel Square and lots of opportunities for capturing nature. Businesses and Organisations...It's been such a pleasure to work with lots of different local businesses and organisations again this year including the beautiful work of mj cabinetmakers, a stunning fashion collection, work for the wonderful Ullswater Community College (including a little bit of Joey Essex) and Eden Boutique and a project for Hospice at Home's 20th anniversary including a visit from The Duchess of Gloucester. If you don't know about Hospice at Home, please check out their website - it's a wonderful charity. Sessions with some lovely people...Really, it's all about people. Thank you to all of these people who spent a little portion of their 2017 with me as we preserved a few memories together. I'm a little slow in getting these up too but another enjoyable, and lovely, family sitting. This time the session was a complete surprise for Mum as a Mother's Day present (well done Dad!). Such a cutie too!
These photos are from a recent walk near Lowther with a lovely family - Nadine, Tom and Mayson had received a gift voucher for Christmas, and it's always fun doing voucher sittings! A gorgeous day and family.
As per usual, I'm rather behind with the blog-keeping! As a result I have a little load of photos from different sittings to pop up here! One of which is this lovely set from a recent family sitting down on Ullswater. We walked from Pooley Bridge and had a lovely wonder, climbing trees and paddling in the water along the way. A perfect way to spend an afternoon!
It won't be long now at all until this little one makes an appearance, but ahead of the big day we spent a lovely hour in Rickerby Park in Carlisle catching a few pre-baby photos! I can't wait to meet the third member of the family!!
We are so excited to unveil our Pet Week at Devonshire Arcade that will be taking place over October half-term (24th-29th of October). We will be opening our studio to your pets be they furry, fluffy, feathery or scaley! Any human members of the family are more than welcome to join in the shoot too! We'll spend time catching beautiful, professional photos and then you'll have the opportunity to view and purchase the images during the sitting.
The Pet Week sittings are a reduced sitting price of £20 and you can view our prints and photo products in our ‘presenting your photos’ page. We'll be offering a discount on orders placed on the day as well. There's more information, along with FAQs and bookings, on the Pet Week page but please contact us if you have any questions at all.
A little later but here we go! The mini-film for Amy and Yann's Wedding Day. Congratulations once again. I can't wait for the French day!
The locations were Wetheral Parish Church and the Heather Glen Country House. The music for the film is 'Life is Good' by Derek Clegg (freemusicarchive.org).
Not a lot of words today - just to say that I had a lovely pop to the Llangollen Canal in Wales for an afternoon walk along the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, the highest and longest aqueduct in the British Isles. Truly beautiful surroundings and a wonderful slice of cultural history. I particularly loved the places in the railings where the old tow ropes had cut sculptural little faces. The history and passage of time was palpable. Worth a pop if in the area!
I know 'Photos of the Year' type posts are meant to be limited to a small amount of shots (I have a great deal of respect for photographers who can choose 10!) but I've gone for a smaller amount of shots in a variety of categories! 2015 has been a fun and varied year with lots of exciting and beautiful things to capture. Spring and summer seemed particularly long this year and so there were more opportunities for outdoor photos. I also had the great joy of becoming an Aunt too (my new nephew Eli makes an appearance below). To all who I've had the privilege of working with this last year, thank you! Weddings... Some lovely locations locally and further down the country (a beautifully sunny Bristol!). Congratulations to all this years couples x Flora and Fauna...As ever, its a real pleasure to live in Cumbria with easy access to the Lakes. There were also some new (furry) additions to the residents at Dalemain Mill that will probably mean that next year's 'fav photos' will feature less birds! Local Businesses and Organisations...Thanks to Creations Hair and Beauty Salon, MJ Cabinetmakers, Eden Boutique, and The Rendezvous Restaurant for some fantastic sessions this year. As always, it's been great to work with Ullswater Community College again this year and join in with all the wonderful things they do. Sessions with some lovely people... Thanks to all the lovely people I've spent time with this year - I look forward to seeing some of you again soon! And of course, welcome to Eli! Hospice at Home... Lastly... a little splash of colour at two Hospice at Home Colour Runs. If you weren't involved this last year and live in Cumbria I'd definitely recommend signing up for the Carlisle or Penrith event. As you can see, it's amazingly fun! There may or may not be a film show reel of the year too but just in case - a belated Happy New Year! Here's to an equally wonderful 2016
Such a sun-kissed, joyful, atmospheric and beautifully crafted wedding was Tom and Hannah's! Tom and Hannah's personality and love brimmed out of every aspect of their day - congratulations Mr and Mrs Wright!
And their Wedding Film...A very quick round up of a wonderful year - thanks to all those involved! Time with some lovely people...Great opportunities working with local businesses... Great times at UCC again this year... Some beautiful flora and fauna...And lastly, a great weekend away with the family in Fort William... Thanks for a great 2014!
Over the summer, I had a couple of visits 'home' to Guernsey - partly thanks to Chris and Larissa's wedding! It was an opportunity to catch up with family and friends as well as spend time in one of the most lovely places in the world. I am biased, I know. Part of the trip was spent camping on Herm Island and for that I didn't have my 'big' camera, just my Nokia Lumia, but those photos are for another post! Here are a few from my grandparents garden. They are avid gardeners and grow a large variety of vegetables. I seemed drawn to the fronds and vines again, so here they are... Hope you enjoy them!
Last month I took a trip up to Scotland with the family - visiting Fort William, Glenfinnan and the 'Harry Potter' train. There was a little bit of sheep racing for charity going on in Fort William, a little bit of whisky tasting at the Ben Nevis Distillery. I'd highly recommend the train ride from Fort William up to Malaig. The scenery is stunning and, for the Harry Potter fans, it crosses the viaduct from The Chamber of Secrets as well as passing Dumbledore's island (spoiler-free!). I have a huge amount of respect for landscape photographers (I don't claim that to be my speciality) and the landscape shots are more 'snaps' caught along the way - candid landscape if you will! I think I'm particularly in love with ferns this summer though - maybe I'll specialise in them... I can't believe its already a month ago, but Marie and Steve's wedding photos and film are now online! You can view the whole wedding the 'client area' of our website but there's a few sneak peaks below, as well as their wedding film - a first for de la Mare Photography! It was such a pleasure to be involved in Marie and Steve's day, they were such a smiley bunch! I'd highly recommend the venues too - both the Tithe Barn and Tullie House were perfect. It's taken me a few weeks to put these up but I had the immense pleasure of photographing the brand-new baby boy of some good friends. He was only twelve days old and very much a cutie! Here's a couple from the shoot. I'm very excited to be able to announce that we are now offering the gorgeous fair trade products from Nkuku. Having been a big fan of Nkuku for a number of years, it has taken me a long time to realise that I could offer them to photography customers! These albums and frames are truly beautifully made and designed by artisans with a unique feel and look. Just as important is the whole ethos of the company, whose mission is to be 'socially responsible' and to build 'on the principles of fair trade and equal opportunity'. This ethos is something I would like to fully support. Have a look at their website for more information: nkuku.com
Our Nkuku Frame and Album price list is available to view here. To celebrate, we are running a Mother's Day offer of a Sheesham Wood Frame (including the nine 6x4" prints) and a portrait sitting for the reduced price of £40. This voucher is available to buy online or contact us for more information. All vouchers will be valid for a year. It's rather late in arriving but I've been compiling a 'favourites' folder from 2013 for a while. Looking back and forward is a little luxury at this time of year and I can hardly believe how quickly this year has gone. Sadly I was without a camera for my trip to France in the summer, but other than that I've had a ball! Time with Ullswater Community CollegeI have had the privilege of spending time at UCC photographing many of their events. Once again, I was able to see and shoot the A-Level art exhibition which included the light shell on the magazine page above, which was a particular favourite (you can see the shell in action in the footage we shot in the second part of this mini-film). It's also been a pleasure to photograph productions and devised pieces from the Drama department - much is due to Jane Reardon (pictured), who has left this term. One of the true highlights of the year was the visit of actor John Hurt to the school to launch the Branch Out reading event - what an honour and a truly lovely man. Brilliant work from the students at Eden Boutique Hair SalonIt was almost impossible to choose a few for this blog from the session - a larger selection were put in May. Some travels and wildlifeTime with some wonderful peopleIt's been a great year - thank you to everyone who has been a part of it! |
