In the longer days of summer, Mr and Mrs Fiamor-Young got married! It's been such a pleasure getting to know Alex and Klenam over the past couple of years - from walking around Rydal for their engagement shoot to all the lead up to the big day - their love for each other, their families and friends and life in general made for a fantastic day. Great to meet Jane Ryder Make Up, shoot at St. Thomas' Church Kendal again and see the stunning views from Helsington! Congrats Alex and Klenam, and thank you for including me in your day!

Almost two months ago Matthew and Jessica got married! During a December family shoot in 2021, I'd shot this fab couple before they were engaged and thought there was something special there. It wasn't very much afterwards that a proposal happened! It's always extra special for me to capture images of people across the years and so I was particularly pleased when they contacted me about photographing their day. And such a beautiful day it was at South Farm with lots of laughter, photos in bath-tubs, wisteria, caravans and a little bit of magic. How gorgeous do the beautiful bride and groom look? Congratulations to you both!
Goodness what a shoot this was!! Having run up and down Haystacks (apparently Wainwright's favourite fell), I was well warmed up by the time I met Kenji and Georgia on the shores of Buttermere for their engagement shoot. Having met overseas, the couple were visiting Georgia's childhood home over the summer and decided to have a shoot during their visit. We wandered along the shores of the lake, and I had a whale of a time letting them celebrate being them (and clicking away in the process). Their joy and love for each other is so evident in the photos. It's been a pleasure spending time with these two (from the shoot to their little messages on their slideshow!) and their prints are going to be boxed up soon. I love my job!
In October 2021, I had the immense pleasure of spending the day with Darryl and Naomi - along with family and friends - as they celebrated ten years of married life by renewing their vows. By my height and my name, it's very clear that I'm a Guernsey girl (not a relative of Walter though!) and this beautiful family moved to the Lake District just before Covid from Guernsey too. There's a small but strong group of islanders who have made Cumbria their home! I'd not crossed over with Darryl and Naomi before (unusual in Guernsey circles!!) and so it was a double delight to meet them and record their day.
The service - which was filled with celebration and warmth - was at St. James' Church followed by a fantastic reception at Woodlands Country House in Ireby. The Etoile String Quartet played beautifully at both locations and after months of little or no live music, their playing added to the emotion of the day which was already full of so much joy and love. If anyone is considering how to celebrate a marriage milestone, I can think of no better life and love-affirming way to do so! Congratulations Darryl and Naomi! With weddings feeling a little bit closer every day, it's a good time to celebrate them! If you haven't seen it yet, the new edition of Your North West Wedding magazine is out and de la Mare Creative features on quite a few pages! You can see images from the styled shoot I was involved with at Calthwaite Hall, a feature on the new Polaroid options in our wedding collections and a few of our favourite photos!
Last September I had the privilege to be involved with a styled shoot at the beautiful Calthwaite Hall, shooting the 'behind the scenes' film. It was a fantastic day and a great opportunity to be wedding'y' in the midst of this strange year! Thanks to Annabel Candler and the whole team.
On a beautifully chilly day in January, Ben and Ailsa got married! We had a lovely wedding wander around the balmy Winter Gardens in Duthrie Park, Aberdeen. Lots of joy and beauty in these photos! Congratulations!
Just before Christmas we had the pleasure of spending a wintery day with these lovely people down in the South Lakes at St. Thomas' Church in Kendal. The day was crisp and the atmosphere was joyful with lots of smiles and laughter! Congratulations to the lovely Mr and Mrs Theobald!
It's been a busy two or three months leading to a very delayed 'Best of 2017'. I almost considered leaving it until 2018 but there were so many lovely moments in the last year that I thought it was worth popping them up even if they are a little late. Thank you to all those who have appeared through the lens of the de la Mare camera this year! Weddings...Starting with a stunning Couple's shoot for Simon and Bethany in January, following their London wedding, this year's weddings have been a joy! There's a couple in here too of Tom and Hannah's stunning Graphistudio album that arrived this year. Congratulations one and all. Floral and Fauna...It's hard categorising photos - a few in here could fit into the lovely people section, just they aren't people! Getting out and about or shooting pets in the studio were some of the highlights of 2017, with another successful Pet Week in Angel Square and lots of opportunities for capturing nature. Businesses and Organisations...It's been such a pleasure to work with lots of different local businesses and organisations again this year including the beautiful work of mj cabinetmakers, a stunning fashion collection, work for the wonderful Ullswater Community College (including a little bit of Joey Essex) and Eden Boutique and a project for Hospice at Home's 20th anniversary including a visit from The Duchess of Gloucester. If you don't know about Hospice at Home, please check out their website - it's a wonderful charity. Sessions with some lovely people...Really, it's all about people. Thank you to all of these people who spent a little portion of their 2017 with me as we preserved a few memories together.
A little later but here we go! The mini-film for Amy and Yann's Wedding Day. Congratulations once again. I can't wait for the French day!
The locations were Wetheral Parish Church and the Heather Glen Country House. The music for the film is 'Life is Good' by Derek Clegg (freemusicarchive.org).
Such a sun-kissed, joyful, atmospheric and beautifully crafted wedding was Tom and Hannah's! Tom and Hannah's personality and love brimmed out of every aspect of their day - congratulations Mr and Mrs Wright!
And their Wedding Film...It was a few months ago (but fairly similar weather!) that Sarah and Andy were married at Low House in Armathwaite. It was a lovely, relaxed day with lots of children running around the grounds of the beautiful house. The setting of Low House was fantastic with such a comfortable feel and yet with real attention to detail - and a very warm welcome from the owners Charles and Sara Ecroyd.
I've had the pleasure of photographing Sarah a couple of times and the rest of the family at their engagement sitting which was wonderful. It's so lovely to get to know couples before the wedding and it makes the photo-taking experience even more special. Here are a couple from the day:
As promised in previous post - here is Rebecca and Steven's wedding film!
It was a beautiful day, just over a month ago with lots of gorgeous crockery, classic music and happy people. I love how people's personalities shine through their weddings and this was a lovely one with lots of attention to detail. The venues included Lady Gillford House (a first for me) and one of my favourite Carlisle venues, the Tithe Barn - a place that manages to morph each time I see it! Friends and family can see the gallery in the client area of the website with the password that was at the reception (contact Rebecca and Steven for details) but a taster few are posted here. I'll post their Wedding film later on in the day. Congratulations to Rebecca and Steven once again! As promised! Chris and Larissa's Wedding Film (you can catch their wedding photos here), such a lovely day. I put up a sneak peak of this wedding last month with a few flower photos (http://bit.ly/1msUU88 for those interested!) but here are some from the 'day proper'. It was such a beautiful and relaxed day - smiles, sun and sand! Herm Island is a perfect place for a wedding in the sun and everyone fitted in St Tugual's Chapel. Congratulations to the lovely couple! I'll blog their Wedding Film in a couple of days! Chris and Larissa's family and friends can view the whole wedding gallery in the Client Area of the website.
Chris and Larissa's wedding is almost edited (slowed down by my stay in Guernsey after their wedding) - and I found these few flowers that happened to jump into my camera during the day! These are from the gardens at The White House on Herm Island. And the photography team! And one final image to celebrate the colour grass should be!
I can't believe its already a month ago, but Marie and Steve's wedding photos and film are now online! You can view the whole wedding the 'client area' of our website but there's a few sneak peaks below, as well as their wedding film - a first for de la Mare Photography! It was such a pleasure to be involved in Marie and Steve's day, they were such a smiley bunch! I'd highly recommend the venues too - both the Tithe Barn and Tullie House were perfect. Editing has begun at de la Mare Photography, after a lovely day yesterday at Marie and Steve's wedding. The weather held over the gardens at Tullie House for the ceremony and the walk to the Tithe Barn. Not only were the bride and groom wonderful, but the guests were a particularly smiley bunch! I'm looking forward to spending time sifting through all the shots and editing together their wedding film - a new feature!
Highlights - the time given to mingling, the beautiful gardens at Tullie House and the gorgeous handmade candle glitter jars. A pre-wedding highlight was the dress shoot that took place in the Tullie House staircase. It was great fun being creative with the bride before the day! Congratulations to the lovely Mr and Mrs Neile! Since moving over to the new website, I've not uploaded my Wedding portfolios on to this one. This was partly because I was wanting to do something new with them. That new thing was to reform them into a 'Wedding Look Book' incorporating new and older images. You can also see photos all from one day on the Weddings page.
So here it is... It's rather late in arriving but I've been compiling a 'favourites' folder from 2013 for a while. Looking back and forward is a little luxury at this time of year and I can hardly believe how quickly this year has gone. Sadly I was without a camera for my trip to France in the summer, but other than that I've had a ball! Time with Ullswater Community CollegeI have had the privilege of spending time at UCC photographing many of their events. Once again, I was able to see and shoot the A-Level art exhibition which included the light shell on the magazine page above, which was a particular favourite (you can see the shell in action in the footage we shot in the second part of this mini-film). It's also been a pleasure to photograph productions and devised pieces from the Drama department - much is due to Jane Reardon (pictured), who has left this term. One of the true highlights of the year was the visit of actor John Hurt to the school to launch the Branch Out reading event - what an honour and a truly lovely man. Brilliant work from the students at Eden Boutique Hair SalonIt was almost impossible to choose a few for this blog from the session - a larger selection were put in May. Some travels and wildlifeTime with some wonderful peopleIt's been a great year - thank you to everyone who has been a part of it!It was such a fab day with Alan and Claire - first at Church on the Rock, then through to Havelet Bay, Fermain and finally the Venue at Fermain Valley Hotel. Alan and Claire beamed the whole day - Claire looked so calm and relaxed in her amazing dress! Such lovely families too. What a wonderful time! You can see the photos from the day in the Client Area, or a mini-album on facebook.
I've seen these lovely flowers all over the place this summer. There were some beautiful ones at Askham Hall Gardens and then a fantastic, very tall, display in Dinan, France. I find the slightly smaller landscape of flowers to be more my thing than the slightly larger landscapes, of well, landscapes! The intricacy of the macro, and microscopic, can be astounding. Blossfeldt's images are a huge testament to that. Maybe Dr Zeuss was on to something with Horton hears a Who!
These were taken at The Venue, Fermain Valley Hotel in Guernsey, during Claire and Alan's wedding. It was such a lovely day and a privilege to be there to photograph it. Whilst the photos from the actual wedding aren't ready for general viewing yet, there's still a bit of editing and the couple to see them (!), these flowers can be shared I'm sure! |
